Welcome to Meshlat ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience on our platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and services.

For users in India: We are the data fiduciary in respect of your personal data processed through the Meshlat app, in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account Information: Name, email address, profile photos, bio, and preferences
• Activity Information: Activities you post, descriptions, images, location data, and preferences
• Communication Data: Messages sent through our chat system
• Profile Details: Education, interests, languages, and other profile information
• Optional third-party social profile links: If you choose to add usernames or profile URLs for services such as Instagram, TikTok, or Snapchat, we store that information as part of your profile so it can be shown to other users inside Meshlat.

2.2 Voice and Audio Data (Meshlat AI)

When you use the in-app voice assistant ("Meshlat AI"), we collect and process voice/audio input streamed in real time, session data held in memory during active sessions, and optional conversation memory if you opt in. We do not permanently store voice recordings. Voice and text inputs are processed by xAI. See x.ai/privacy for their practices.

2.3 Information We Collect Automatically

• Location Data: Your current location to show nearby activities (with your permission)
• Device Information: Device type, operating system, and app version
• Usage Data: How you interact with the app, features used, and activity patterns
• Technical Data: IP address, browser type, and connection information

2.4 Images and Media

Photos you upload are stored on our servers. Image metadata may be processed for display or moderation. Images are retained while your account is active and removed as part of account deletion.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide activity discovery, communication, location services, personalization, safety and moderation, fraud prevention, analytics, and bug fixes. We do not use your activity mode for advertising or third-party profiling.

4. Information Sharing

4.1 With Other Users

Your profile information, activity posts, and messages are shared with other users as part of the service. Optional social profile links you add may appear on your profile.

4.2 With Service Providers

We share information with providers such as Supabase, xAI, Google Maps, Daily.co, Expo push notifications, and analytics services only as needed to operate Meshlat.

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may share your information when required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

4.4 Sale of Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Data Security and Content Safety

We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, automated content moderation, image safety scanning, and secure cloud infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You can view, update, and delete your data through the app. You can control location sharing, profile visibility, and notifications. If you are in India, you may have additional rights under applicable Indian law. Contact us or our Grievance Officer to exercise them.

7. Location Services

We use location to show nearby activities and sort by proximity. Location is only accessed with your permission and we do not track your location when the app is not in use.

8. Minors (Under 18)

Our app is intended for individuals 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

9. International Users and Cross-Border Transfer

Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. Users in India consent to such transfers as described here and in compliance with applicable law.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy and will notify you via in-app notice, email, or by updating the "Last Updated" date.

11.1 Grievance Officer (India)
