1. Introduction

Welcome to Meshlat ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience on our platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and services.

For users in India: We are the data fiduciary in respect of your personal data processed through the Meshlat app, in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account Information: Name, email address, profile photos, bio, and preferences
• Activity and listing information: Activities, listings, descriptions, images, location data, and preferences
• Watch / short video content: Videos you upload to Watch (creator or business reels), captions, optional location tags on clips, and related engagement (likes, comments)
• Communication Data: Messages sent through our chat system
• Profile Details: Education, interests, languages, and other profile information
• Safety reports: When you report a user or content, we store the report type, your description, good-faith confirmation, and technical evidence needed to review the case (for example a Watch clip id and deep link)
• Optional third-party social profile links: If you choose to add usernames or profile URLs for services such as Instagram, TikTok, or Snapchat, we store that information as part of your profile so it can be shown to other users inside Meshlat.

2.2 Voice and Audio Data (Meshlat AI)

When you use the in-app voice assistant ("Meshlat AI"), we collect and process voice/audio input streamed in real time, session data held in memory during active sessions, and optional conversation memory if you opt in. We do not permanently store voice recordings. Voice and text inputs are processed by xAI. See x.ai/privacy for their practices.

2.3 Information We Collect Automatically

• Location Data: Your current location to show nearby activities and Nearby Watch content (with your permission)
• Device Information: Device type, operating system, and app version
• Usage Data: How you interact with the app, features used, and activity patterns
• Technical Data: IP address, browser type, and connection information

2.4 Images, Video, and Media

Photos and videos you upload are stored on our servers (or trusted storage providers). Media and related metadata may be processed for display and for automated safety scanning. Media is retained while your account is active. When you delete your account (or a scoped personal/vendor purge removes that content), Watch reels are removed from public feeds promptly; storage cleanup follows our deletion process, subject to legal retention below.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide discovery, communication, location services, Watch feeds, personalization, safety and moderation (including automated scanning and human review of reports), fraud prevention, analytics, and bug fixes. We do not use your activity mode for advertising or third-party profiling.

4. Information Sharing

4.1 With Other Users

Your profile information, activity posts, Watch videos you publish, and messages are shared with other users as part of the service. Optional social profile links you add may appear on your profile.

4.2 With Service Providers

We share information with providers such as Supabase (backend and storage), automated media safety scanning (currently Hive for image/video classification), xAI (Meshlat AI), Google Maps, live/video infrastructure (e.g. LiveKit where live features are enabled), Expo push notifications, and analytics or crash reporting services only as needed to operate Meshlat.

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may share your information when required by law, to report child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to competent authorities, or to protect our rights and safety.

4.4 Sale of Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Data Security and Content Safety

We use encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, automated content moderation (including video and image safety scanning), human review of user reports, and secure cloud infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. See also our Child Safety and Community Guidelines pages.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You can view, update, and delete your data through the app. You can control location sharing, profile visibility, and notifications. Deleted account data is removed within 30 days, subject to legal retention requirements. For step-by-step account deletion instructions, see Delete your Meshlat account.

If you are in India, you may have additional rights under applicable Indian law. Contact us or our Grievance Officer to exercise them.

6.1 Reports and safety retention

Safety reports you submit, and reports about accounts or content, may be retained longer than general account data when needed to investigate abuse, comply with law, or defend legal claims. We do not publish reporter identities to the reported user. Automated moderation flags (including suspected CSAM) may create internal report records for mandatory review.

7. Location Services

We use location to show nearby activities and Nearby Watch content, and to sort by proximity. Location is only accessed with your permission and we do not track your location when the app is not in use. Optional location tags on Watch clips you publish may be visible to others with that content.

8. Minors (Under 18)

Our app is intended for individuals 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

9. International Users and Cross-Border Transfer

Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. Users in India consent to such transfers as described here and in compliance with applicable law.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy and will notify you via in-app notice, email, or by updating the "Last Updated" date.

11.1 Grievance Officer (India)

We will acknowledge complaints within thirty (30) days and endeavour to resolve them within thirty (30) days of acknowledgment.

By using Meshlat, you consent to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.
